Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Workshop

This two-session, immersive workshop provides Federal employees and contractor personnel with a comprehensive understanding of the Federal Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Program and its application across Government and contractor environments. The workshop is designed to help participants consistently identify, categorize, mark, safeguard, share, and manage Controlled Unclassified Information in accordance with applicable laws, Federal regulations, Government-wide policies, and contractual requirements.

Participants will explore the purpose, structure, and authorities of the CUI Program through a detailed examination of the processes used to identify CUI, apply standardized markings, implement safeguarding requirements, manage information sharing, respond to CUI incidents, and support organizational compliance throughout the information lifecycle. The program emphasizes practical application by examining the responsibilities of Federal employees, contractors, authorized holders, managers, and organizational leadership in protecting sensitive unclassified information while enabling appropriate information sharing.

The workshop combines instructor-led presentations, case studies, guided discussions, and applied exercises that bridge policy and practice. Participants will analyze realistic workplace scenarios, evaluate common CUI handling situations, and apply Federal CUI requirements to information identification, document marking, safeguarding, dissemination, incident response, and organizational program management.

By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will possess the knowledge and practical skills needed to apply CUI requirements consistently within their organizations, support secure information sharing, reduce the risk of unauthorized disclosure, and contribute to the successful implementation and sustainment of an effective Controlled Unclassified Information Program.
