Voting Process
Voting for the Chapter Officers for the next two-year term (July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2026) is now open! All current GWDC members are eligible to vote. Members will be sent an email with link to the voting website. Members are allowed to vote only once.
Election results will be announced at the GWDC Annual Meeting on June 12. If you have any difficulty voting or did not receive an email to vote, please contact us using the Officer Voting Questions form.
Voting will remain open through May 8, 2024.
Candidate for President
Sushila Nair
CISA, CRISC, CISM, CDPSE
Candidate Bio: I currently serve as VP of GWDC and am seeking the role of Chapter President after seven years of dedicated service on the chapter board. With over three decades of industry experience, my tenure as VP of Capgemini’s North American Cybersecurity practice and as the founder of a pioneering Cybersecurity firm, have been marked by visionary leadership and groundbreaking solutions. My strategic vision through significant contributions to ISACA GWDC’s programs including teaching, active participation in ISACA’s global emerging trends working group, and my profound commitment as Vice President of GWDC. This dedication to nurturing cybersecurity and audit talent was recognized when I was honored with ISACA’s Technology for Humanity Award in 2024 and named a top cybersecurity leader by Security magazine. Interest and Experience in Serving the GWDC or similar non-profit organization: My mandate as president will be to enable ISACA GWDC to not just meet but rather exceed member expectations through a diverse array of CPE opportunities, cutting-edge educational content, and unparalleled networking events. I am dedicated to enriching our offerings by enhancing and developing both virtual and in-person programs, catering to the evolving needs of our members. The cornerstone of my candidacy is ensuring that every GWDC member has the tools and resources necessary for career advancement, tailored to their personal and professional preferences. My focus will be on creating an inclusive, dynamic, and responsive environment that supports every member’s journey towards excellence in the cybersecurity and audit landscapes. Together, we can forge a future where GWDC stands as a beacon of knowledge, opportunity, and community engagement.
Candidate for Vice President
Katherine Scott
Candidate Bio: Having been an ISACA GWDC member since 2007, Katherine Scott has served as chapter Secretary since July 2020 and maintains chapter compliance, records, bylaws, and NASBA accreditation. Katherine participated in eight chapter strategy sessions, served as Director of Membership from July 2016 to June 2000, served as Scribe from July 2014 to June 2016, and was on the board when GWDC became the largest chapter in the world and won four global awards. Katherine supports the Board and other directorates. She co-hosted the Women in Technology conference for two years, helped at Academics events, supported CPE issuance, and wrote newsletter articles. She wrote a chapter roles and responsibilities document, reviewed Board SOPs, and led multiple chapter bylaw reviews. She attended ISACA’s Global Leadership Conference four times, served on a task force with ISACA to define the role that ISACA plays in helping students get into IT, and participated in ISACA’s advocacy Day on the Hill.
Interest and Experience in Serving the GWDC or similar non-profit organization: Becoming the Vice President of ISACA is a significant role that involves strategic leadership and impact. In the last ten years working with GWDC Board, Katherine has committed to the strength and growth of this chapter through various leadership roles. She would like to continue working with the Board as Vice President to further her exposure to chapter operations and expand her work with the chapter. Katherine is committed to support the President and her fellow Board members in helping our chapter fulfill the ISACA mission to “be relevant, valued and trusted by our members.” Katherine is passionate about member involvement since our service to members is the key to chapter visibility and success. Katherine will work with the different directorates to continue to provide meaningful conferences, offer valuable certification classes, and organize networking opportunities for our members. Katherine looks forward to continuing to serve the chapter in this new role.
Candidate for Secretary
Magali Velazquez
Candidate Bio: Magali Velazquez is a seasoned cybersecurity, operational risk and IT auditing professional with more than 25 years of experience across various industries, including banking, biotech, transportation, government, and private organizations. She holds certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, and CRISC, reflecting her commitment to continuous professional development and excellence in the field. Magali’s career includes roles such as Vice President, Technology – Cyber & Infrastructure Audit Manager at Citibank and Risk Advisory Manager at WMATA, where she led cybersecurity audits, managed internal operations, and provided strategic guidance for risk management. Magali also made significant contributions during her tenure at AstraZeneca Inc., and World Bank Credit Union, where she honed her skills in risk management, compliance, and internal controls. Her multilingual proficiency in Spanish, English, and Italian enhances her ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments.
Interest and Experience in Serving the GWDC or similar non-profit organization: Since 2012, Magali Velazquez has been actively involved in different areas of ISACA GWDC Chapter activities, including Programs, Certifications, Membership, and CPEs Certificates. Additionally, she has volunteered in multiple live and remote events for the chapter, serving in various capacities and contributing to the success of these initiatives. Magali’s interest in serving non-profit organizations like ISACA GWDC Chapter stems from her passion for professional development, networking, and giving back to the community. Her experience in leading cybersecurity audits and managing risk in complex environments equips her with valuable insights and skills to contribute effectively to the chapter’s mission and objectives.
Candidate for Treasurer
Ujwal “Mickey” Gandhi
CPA
Candidate Bio: I am currently serving as the Treasurer of the Greater Washington D.C. (GWDC) chapter. With years of experience and a strong dedication to our professional and member community, I believe I am well-suited for re-election. During the past terms as Treasurer, I have focused on improving our chapter’s financial operations. I have worked diligently to streamline budgeting processes and enhance payment processing, aiming to make our financial management more efficient and transparent. Throughout my tenure, I have remained committed to the values and goals of the GWDC community. I have strived to ensure our chapter’s financial stability, contributing to its growth and success. With my experience, dedication, and proven track record, I am confident in my ability to continue serving as chapter Treasurer. I am committed to promoting the welfare of all members and maintaining effective financial management for the GWDC. Please consider re-electing me, Mickey, as your Chapter Treasurer.

My experience and expertise uniquely position me to continue serving as a trusted steward of our chapter’s finances, working diligently to optimize our financial resources and support the initiatives that matter most to our members.
