Starting May 1st 2017 ISACA is changing the way the CISA, CRISC, CISM and CGEIT certification exams will be administered. The paper and pencil days are gone, now candidates seeking ISACA’s highly respected certifications will be taking the exams via computer-based testing (CBT). This is a marked change for ISACA, considering most other professional certifications exams are all CBT’s. CBT allows for in-person testing on a computer at an approved ISACA testing center. CBT offers increased access and flexibility as candidates can choose exam times and locations that are most convenient for them.
ISACA is offering the CISA, CRISC, CISM, and CGEIT certifications exams during three testing windows of eight-week durations for 2017:
- May 1 – June 30, 2017
- August 1 – September 30, 2017
- November 1 – December 31, 2017
The exam sites will be listed on ISACA International’s website with the most current testing locations. ISACA will be updating the locations periodically beyond the first May window. The testing facilities will be open 6 days per week (with the exception of holidays), and candidates can choose from morning or afternoon testing times.
Candidates who registered to take the exam, and are unable to take the exam on their scheduled date can reschedule within the same testing window. There is no charge for rescheduling if done at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. After this point, candidates must either take their scheduled exam or forfeit their registration fees. You can reschedule your testing appointment online by logging in to your ISACA profile at www.isaca.org/myisaca and clicking on myCertifications. Exam registrants may elect to defer their unscheduled or canceled exam eligibility to the following testing window for a US $200 processing fee. Candidates are only permitted to defer their exam to an alternative testing window one time.
With ISACA CBT exams, the long wait for the scores is finally over. The painful 5 week waiting period for the results will now be alleviated as the candidates will now receive a preliminary score report at the conclusion of their exam. This means, the moment you hit the Submit button, your score will be displayed and you’ll know if you have made it. Before hitting the Submit button, the answers should be carefully reviewed and the online instructions followed. ISACA will send official scores to candidates via email within 10 working days of their exam.
ISACA certification exams will continue to be tough and challenging, so prepare well before scheduling and attempting to take that exam. ISACA wouldn’t go easy on the exam difficulty just because it is a CBT format. If you are new to online exam format, you can purchase the Review Questions, Answers & Explanation Database and practice taking CBT exams.
