Dear Fellow Members,
I hope you all had a great Labor Day Weekend. As summer winds down and children go back to school, GWDC kicks off our full event schedule in high gear. We are excited for all the great opportunities coming up in September and October.
Our Cloud Computing Conference on September 18 is our next full day conference. We’ve established a new partnership with the Cloud Security Alliance to support this event and offer more for our members.
I’m happy to announce we are placing renewed emphasis on Early Professionals. We are engaging early career and young professionals through new events geared at networking and additional career support. Our first event is jointly held with the ISACA Central Maryland Chapter and sold out nearly immediately. Keep an eye out for future events of this type and be sure to register quickly!
Later in September we have a special seminar for Security in PeopleSoft Applications: Setup, Administration and Auditing Seminar. Understanding the ins and outs of PeopleSoft is an important skill and typically hard to find. This course will give participants very strong knowledge of how to secure and evaluate security in PeopleSoft implementations.
We are launching a new ‘Network & Learn’ evening education series beginning in October. This will consist of short evening education events offering up to two (2) CPEs. Our first one, Modernizing Risk Management Panel, will be held on October 2nd.
Our very popular CSX Training is back again in early October. This course continues to get excellent feedback and can sell out. This is a great opportunity to build a solid foundation in cybersecurity knowledge and prepare for the CSX Fundamentals exam. If you are considering attending, be sure to register in advance.
We have two major October events not posted yet on the website, but should be there soon. The first is our annual cybersecurity conference which always draws around 200+ attendees. The second is a new COBIT 2019 specific course that will be a deep dive into the new COBIT 2019 framework and prepare students to take the COBIT exam. Stay tuned for more information about both events.
Additionally, on October 5th, ISACA is running a Global CommuniITy Volunteer Day. This will be a way that ISACA can make a difference around the world on an annual basis. GWDC will be participating and contributing locally. We will have more information posted soon about what the volunteering opportunity will be and how to get involved.
