Dear Fellow Members,
March is a special month as we begin celebrating National Women’s History Month. Since Congress first assigned this designation in 1987, a special Presidential Proclamation is issued
every year which honors the extraordinary achievements of American women. In my family, we begin begin our celebration on Girls Day, a Japanese national holiday held March 3rd. This year was particularly memorable as we weathered the power outages that plagued the DC area during #windmaggedon. The ISACA GWDC is holding a number of events this month that feature prominent women, but I want to call special attention to our annual Women in Technology event; this year’s theme is “Diversity and Challenges” and I am excited about the stellar speaker lineup. We invite you to join the GWDC family in celebrating the special women in your life this month.
This month also kicks off another important time for the Chapter as we open up election season for the Officers that will lead YOUR Chapter for two years beginning July 1, 2018. Are you looking for a challenging volunteer opportunity? Do you want to grow and expand your skills? Are you seeking leadership opportunities? Do you want to influence changes in your ISACA Chapter? I highly encourage you to submit a nomination to run for an Officer position. Alternatively, if you know of a talented individual who would could make an excellent contribution as a leader of our volunteer-run organization, please speak with them and consider nominating them. Read about the Officer nomination process here.
We continue to add new events and have quite a few conferences, special seminars, networking events, and partner events lined up through the end of the chapter year culminating with our Annual General Meeting and capstone event on June 14, 2018. We will also hold a number of networking happy hour events between now and the end of the chapter year. There are two scheduled in March – one following the WIT Conference and another in Tyson’s Corner on March 22nd. Bookmark our Chapter Events Page and keep an eye on the Chapter event calendar for details.
Thank you to all of our sponsors, new and old, as well as our members for your support. Please bring a colleague with you to our next event – we pride ourselves for providing an unmatched value and price-per-CPE at our monthly conferences and hope you join us at the next one.
