Dear Fellow Members,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The holiday season is upon us and it is easy to get caught up in the frantic end to the year. Needless to say – between the prep or travel we did for Thanksgiving, now shopping for gifts, or trying to meet end of year deadlines at work, we are all very busy.
As the year comes to a close, we still have two big GWDC events in December:
Internet of Things Conference – This is our final conference of 2018. We have a great lineup of speakers and topics. ISACA HQ representatives will be in attendance to document and promote the event even more. This is the last GWDC sponsored CPE opportunity of 2018.
Annual Membership Networking Social – Our networking social will be taking place on December 19 at Buffalo Billiards in Washington, D.C. This event is a tradition for our chapter and an opportunity to connect with your colleagues, win great raffle prizes, and relax a bit with complimentary food, drinks, and games.
Regardless if you are able to attend the December events, here are some useful end of year reminders for all members:
- Renew Your Membership – Be sure to renew before the end of the year to prevent a gap in benefits or certification status.
- Update Your Personal Info – Accurate personal information is more important than you think! Be sure your address, employer, work location, home location are all up to date. Not only does this impact you getting important ISACA information, but it helps our chapter tremendously. GWDC relies on the accuracy of member inputted information to understand where most of our members live/work and we use that information to determine event locations
- Report Your CPEs – Record your CPEs for 2018. Your ISACA GWDC membership gives you access to roughly 50 CPEs through conferences per year. Many more CPE opportunities exist through Certification review courses, Special Seminars, or webinars on our BrightTalk Channel.
- Refer New Members: Members can get many free gifts/prizes for referring 2 or more members. The prize value increases with the more members you refer. Don’t miss out on these opportunities.
Your chapter leaders are hard at work planning the chapter events in 2019 and forging new business relationships to increase member benefits and opportunities through partnerships with other organizations. There will be more communications on exciting things the chapter is working on in the near future.
I hope that everyone has a safe and joyous holiday season.
