Dear Fellow Members,
It was quite the whirlwind of a finish to the chapter year in June. A lot of dedication and hard work went into a successful Annual General Meeting and planning for the chapter year ahead. July 1 marked the transition to a new officer term and I’m honored and grateful to serve as the GWDC President for the next two years.
We have a lot of exciting events and initiatives laid out for the future to increase education offerings, host a variety of networking events, build on our relationships with academia, communicate more efficiently with membership, and streamline our internal processes.
While we are wrapping up our summer certification review courses, we kick off our first conference on September 20th covering Cybersecurity and Risk topics. The membership survey feedback we received indicated that increased education pertaining to Cybersecurity was of very high interest and we aim to offer more opportunities in this area without reducing some of the core education topics we have offered in past years.
I’m very excited for the year ahead, but nothing is possible without the dedication of our volunteers who have made all that we do possible for so many years. We can always use more help, new ideas, and more people willing to contribute their skills to give back to the chapter. Volunteering is a great way to develop new skills, get leadership experience, build your network and enhance your resume. We encourage anyone interested to complete the volunteer survey and we’ll get you engaged.
